DOLE MANDATED COURSES

Article 162 of the Labor Code Instituted by Presidential Decree 442 set and enforce mandatory occupational safety and health standards, to eliminate or reduce occupational safety and health hazards in all workplaces and institute new, and update existing, programs to ensure safe and healthful working conditions in all places of employment. In support to OSH mandate, DOLE developed and implements training programs to increase the number and competent personnel in the field of occupational safety and industrial health as stated in Article 164 of the same code. The training program is set to carry out the provision of Occupational Safety and Health Standard. Rule 1033 in OSH Standard requires “Health and Safety Officers” to complete the Bureau-prescribed training course of 40 hours on “Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH)” and “Construction Occupational Safety and Health Training (COSH)” prior to the appointment in their respective places of employment. These courses should be delivered by DOLE accredited Safety Training Provider.
